This artistic project from Collectif AUTRE was drawn up following a reflection by the group on the role of communication in a society subjected to a rapid and constant transformation whose consequences seem to have had the effect of minimizing its importance. However, to communicate is an essential link in the chain of continuity. An act of transition, it creates a link on which to lean on and to build the future.
This "passage onto other" is, for the artists, of particular relevance since it is the basis of their artistic involvement: to awaken the other to the essentials things. Sharing their vision, values and ideas highlights their work. Through their creations, time and its history intermingle.
The exhibition contains two series of paintings and inks, two installations, one assembly and one collage-assembly. The paintings are done in acrylic, ink, cardboard, paper and fabrics. The targeted object is integrated into the presentation of the creations.
Created in 2004, the Collectif AUTRE includes Lise Béliveau, Lise Lépine, Arline Pronovost, Yolande Reny and Annette St-Pierre, artists from Three-Rivers and Shawinigan, who all obtained their bachelor’s degree in visual arts at the University of Quebec and Three-Rivers in 2003-2004. The artists from the Collectif AUTRE decided to get together in order to work as a group and exchange on their creations in progress and on art in general. Soon, over time and through encounters, appears the desire for new challenges taking the form of thematic exhibitions based on research.
Opening reception will be held on Sunday the 29th of January at 2pm.
