Accomplished photographer, Nathalie Ampleman has been exploring for many years, numerous techniques of stamping and photography which few have practiced, such as gum bichromate and cyanotype. Through her own visual universe she proposes a reflection on impermanent and illusion as subject matter. Perhaps, comparable to an awaken dream, her work is about impression where the landscape, wildlife and man tint our perception of reality. The concept is a reflection, and the theory a quiet tainted cloud... It is about an autonomous and symbolic existence where pictorial matter, within its printing techniques, brings us back to the meaning of the creative process.
Impermanent is one of the essential doctrines or three marks of existence in Buddhism. Everything that exists is subject to change, nothing is stable. Everything around us is constantly changing. Everything lives, grows and dies.
Nathalie Ampleman is originally from Montreal and has been living in the Eastern Townships for seven years. Experienced photographer and artist, she explores different techniques of stamping and photography. She recently acquired a bursary from CALQ for her project “Residual Impression”. Up-and-coming artist, she exhibits pictorial compositions full of allegories. Her work, which relates as much to impression as to photography, produces a visual result which is surprising.
Inspired by her personal life and sometimes by references to the History of Art, her day to day sceneries, characters and animals, all tell a story.
