The artist Airelle, will be exhibiting her characters from another world. These characters are people with blue and green skin, who evolve within mysterious pink, silver and gold worlds.
Airelle has been noticed by several specialists in the artistic movement the «Outsider». She is self taught, extremely prolific and her creations are unique, futuristic and very colorful. One can easily recognize her naive and singular style. Airelle’s raw art does not leave anyone indifferent. Discovered by Robert Poulin, a specialist in this form of art, enabled her to exhibit at the Nanas gallery of Danville and at the factory 106u in Montreal.
Biography Drawing and filling in the sheet of paper completely
During a period of inactivity, Airelle started practicing her new hobby. She drew from morning until night in order to empty her thoughts and occupy her time. She drew like when she was a child, doodling characters spontaneously. However, with one difference, she filled in the sheet of paper completely like one of her friends suggested. Thus, for 7 years, Airelle filled in sheets of paper with colored ballpoint pens with no precise ideas, no desire to please anyone, no subject in particular, nor to make money. To date, she has filled in more than 200 sheets of paper of various sizes, about 15 of them measuring 18 by 24 inches. Airelle is quiet and shy and does not go out very often. Fortunately, you will be able to view her creations thanks to an admirer who makes her work known to the public.
Creations on paper
Airelle’s drawings on paper are astonishingly precise. You will see a complex universe of mixed characters. Most of the drawings were created with fine ballpoint pencils. This meticulous work demands time and exceptional graphic quality.
Creations on canvas
Most of her creations on canvas will be exhibited for the very first time. They are issued from her drawings. These creations are in large format which are very pleasant to look at from near or far.
A darkroom will be part of the exhibition. Through the magic of phosphorescence, you will be able to see transformations by viewing the creations first in the light and then in the dark.
Visitors will be able to look at some creations with 3D glasses. Many paintings have the 3D feature which requires the 3D glasses. The effect is spectacular and gives a unique and modern quality to Airelle’s work.
« Giclées » on metallic paper
Many of these creations were « giclées » on metallic paper. (The French word "giclée" is a feminine noun that means spray or spurt of liquid). These highly contemporary creations have allowed the expansion of smaller drawings while achieving exceptional graphic quality and dazzling luminescence.
Drawings on aluminum plates
Many drawings were printed onto transparent films then glued on aluminum plates through an innovative process. The result is spectacular because of the transparency, depth and high gloss effect.
It is impossible to exhibit all of Airelle’s drawings (more than 200). They were scanned and are available in digital format. You will be able to see them on a monitor. The colors literally explode on the screen.
