To follow one’s footprints is to believe in oneself, in one's abilities and destiny. Believing in life and putting everything in motion to achieve the objectives initially set. The exhibition “Suivre sa trace” is the result of a brand new series of paintings created over the last two years by the artist Marie-Claire Plante. Although, creating abstract art literally gives her wings, she occasionally paints in the figurative way. In these, the imponderable influence of abstraction, which is sometimes lyrical, is systematically detected.
Native of Sainte-Anne-de-la-Rochelle an eastern area of Quebec, Marie-Claire Plante has a special attachment to her region. She loves open spaces and has a compelling need for freedom that is reflected in her paintings. Abstract art allows her to freely express herself in her creations. Carefully concocted pigmentations of inks, pastels and acrylics texture her work along with her experiments. Her creative process, in constant evolution, is instinctive and emancipated. Each work proposes a new story, filled with emotions and intuitions, inspired by the ups and downs of her life that she projects with great sensitivity on the canvas. The result is actually a very personal self-portrait whose outcome seems to have universal significance. Her questions about the world around her and the environment in which she lives are at the heart of her creations.
In this exhibition, figuration and abstraction come together according to the inspiration of the artist. Around twenty powerful paintings invite us to take charge of our destiny.
